The light flux (also known as brightness) emitted by a bulb is expressed in lumen (lm). Traditional incandescent or halogen light bulbs only indicated electric power in watt (W); watts actually indicate energy consumption and not the real quantity of light emitted.
Watt consumption being equal, modern light bulbs (using the LED technology or other low consumption technologies) have a much higher brightness. As an indication, the table here below shows the correspondence between halogen bulbs and any modern bulb whose brightness is expressed in lumen.
