AISI 316 stainless steel is naturally resistant to marine corrosion, but it is still advisable to rinse the carabiners with fresh water after each use and lubricate them periodically with a specific marine product. Avoid contact with other metals that could cause galvanic corrosion.
Textile rope terminals are lighter and more flexible than steel ones, which translates into a reduction in the overall weight of the equipment and improved aerodynamics. They are also more resistant to abrasion and do not damage the ropes. However, they require more attention during installation and maintenance.
When choosing a shackle, consider the workload, the material (stainless steel is preferable for marine use), the shape (straight or bow), and the type of pin (screw, bolt, or spring). Make sure the shackle is certified and suitable for the specific use you will make of it.
