How often should I replace the anodes on my Yanmar engine?

The replacement frequency depends on boat usage and water conditions. In general, check the anodes every month and replace them when they are more than 50% consumed. In areas with high salinity or strong currents, more frequent replacements may be necessary.

Can I use zinc anodes instead of aluminum anodes?

Zinc anodes are suitable for saltwater. However, aluminum anodes offer superior protection in brackish or freshwater and last longer. If you navigate in varying conditions, aluminum is the best choice.

How do I know which anode is right for my Yanmar model?

The safest way is to check your engine manual or consult the Yanmar parts catalog. Alternatively, you can compare the old anode with the images and dimensions of the products available on our site, or contact us directly with your engine model.

What happens if I don't replace the anodes in time?

If the anodes are not replaced, corrosion will begin to attack the metal parts of the engine, such as the propeller, shaft, heat exchanger, and engine block. This can lead to costly repairs and, in the worst case, engine failure.
