What is the difference between a zinc-plated steel engine mount and a stainless steel one?

AISI 316 stainless steel offers greater resistance to corrosion than zinc-plated steel, making it more suitable for humid and salty marine environments. If your boat is moored in a harbor or frequently sails in open water, stainless steel is the recommended choice.

How can I tell if the engine mounts on my boat are worn?

Visually check for cracks, deformations, or signs of deterioration on the rubber or anti-vibration material. Perform a manual test, looking for excessive or abnormal engine movement. If in doubt, consult a marine mechanic.

What nominal maximum static load should I choose for my boat's engine mounts?

The nominal maximum static load must be greater than the engine's weight. Consult your engine manual for the exact weight and choose a mount with an adequate load capacity. If in doubt, seek expert advice.
