Which anode is compatible with my Selva 40hp 2-stroke engine?

Verify the exact model of your engine (e.g., Selva Dorado 40) and compare the original part number of the anode with those indicated in the product sheet. If in doubt, contact us with the engine model and we will provide you with the correct code.

Are aluminum anodes suitable for saltwater?

Yes, aluminum anodes are particularly effective in saltwater, offering superior protection compared to other materials such as zinc. Aluminum is also more environmentally friendly, as it does not contain heavy metals.

Can I install an anode of a different brand on my Selva engine?

Yes, you can use anodes from compatible brands such as Tecnoseal or Osculati, as long as they respect the dimensions and original part number. Make sure the material is suitable for the environment in which you navigate (aluminum for saltwater).

How can I check if an anode is worn and needs replacing?

Visually inspect the anode. If it is reduced to less than half its original size, shows excessive corrosion, or is covered in deposits, it is time to replace it. Also check if it is loose or damaged.

What happens if I don't replace the anodes on my Selva engine?

If you do not replace worn anodes, galvanic corrosion will attack the most important metal parts of your engine, such as the engine block, lower unit, and cooling system. This can cause costly damage and reduce engine life.

Where are the anodes located on a Selva engine?

The position of the anodes varies depending on the Selva engine model. Usually, they are located on the lower unit, the engine block, and in some cases, inside the cooling system. Consult your owner's manual to locate the exact position of the anodes on your engine.

Is it necessary to use dielectric grease when installing anodes?

Yes, it is advisable to apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to the bolts and contact surfaces when installing anodes. This helps prevent corrosion and ensures good electrical contact between the anode and the engine.
