A cord with two snap hooks allows you to always have a secure attachment point even when transferring from one life line to another, ensuring continuous protection. Three-snap hook models offer greater versatility in complex situations, allowing you to attach to multiple points simultaneously.
Life lines (or jacklines) are high-strength webbing straps or textile cables that run along the deck from bow to stern. They are attached to padeyes or rope clutches securely anchored to the boat's structure. Installation must be performed by qualified personnel to ensure maximum safety.
Even if apparently in good condition, safety belts and umbilical cords should be replaced every 5 years, or sooner if they show obvious signs of wear (fraying, cuts, corrosion of the snap hooks). Safety at sea is not optional.
After each use, rinse the belt and cord with fresh water to remove salt. Let them air dry, away from direct sunlight. Periodically check the snap hooks and lubricate them if necessary. Store the belt and cord in a dry and ventilated place.
