Choose fasteners made of AISI 304 stainless steel or corrosion-resistant materials. Regularly lubricate moving parts with marine-grade grease to protect them from salt and oxidation. Periodically clean the fasteners with fresh water to remove salt deposits.
For an external locker, it is advisable to use a snap fastener or latch with a grabber made of AISI 316 stainless steel, which offers greater resistance to corrosion and weathering. Make sure the fastener has a locking system to prevent accidental opening in rough seas.
