It indicates the maximum current that the switch can handle without being damaged. It is essential to choose a switch with a rating higher than that absorbed by the bilge pump to which it is connected (both at 12V and 24V).
Simulate flooding by manually lifting the float (in the case of a mechanical model) or pouring water near the sensor (in the case of an electronic model). The bilge pump should activate immediately. If it does not activate, check the electrical connections and the integrity of the switch.
The choice depends on the size of your boat, the capacity of the bilge pump, and your personal preferences. For small boats, a simple and reliable mechanical model may be sufficient. For larger boats or with specific needs (e.g., confined spaces), an electronic sensor might be the best choice.
