Why is the water pump struggling to reach pressure?

There could be several causes: a damaged expansion tank bladder (check the air pressure), a dirty water pump filter, or a worn pump. Start by checking the expansion tank pressure and cleaning the filter.

How do I choose the right expansion tank for my boat?

The size of the expansion tank depends on the capacity of the water pump and the number of outlets (faucets, showers, toilets). In general, a 10-20 liter expansion tank is sufficient for a small boat, while larger vessels may require a larger model.

How often should the pressure accumulator bladder be replaced?

The lifespan of the bladder depends on the quality of the material and the conditions of use. In general, it is recommended to check the condition of the bladder every 1-2 years and replace it if it shows signs of wear or damage.

What happens if the expansion tank is too small?

If the expansion tank is undersized, the water pump will cycle on and off too frequently, causing premature pump wear and pressure fluctuations at the outlets.

How can I check the pressure of the expansion tank?

Use a tire pressure gauge. Disconnect the water pump and open a faucet to relieve water pressure. Then, connect the gauge to the valve on the expansion tank (usually a Schrader valve, similar to a tire valve) and measure the pressure. Adjust the pressure according to the manufacturer's specifications.

What are the advantages of an expansion tank with an internal bladder?

Expansion tanks with an internal bladder separate the water from the air, preventing the water from becoming saturated with air and reducing the need to replenish the air. They also offer greater durability and reliability.

Can I install the expansion tank in any position?

It is recommended to install the expansion tank in a vertical position, with the air valve facing upwards. This facilitates the discharge of excess air and ensures optimal operation.

How do I know if the bladder in the expansion tank is broken?

If water comes out of the air valve when you press it, the bladder is likely broken and needs to be replaced. Another symptom is a rapid loss of pressure in the tank.
